Awards

Elsie Harwood Award

The award is for the best theoretical essay or empirical research project in the field of ageing, submitted as part of an accredited fourth year program in psychology, or accredited Masters by coursework program in psychology.

Ed Helmes Student Travel Award

This annual initiative is aimed at assisting with student member attendance at a conference, held either nationally or internationally, supporting the continued professional development of our student members.

Students interested in applying for the award should submit an abstract with an ageing focus which has been ACCEPTED as a poster or paper. The award is valued at $300, and aims to assist with covering conference costs. The abstracts will be judged in LATE OCTOBER by a panel of PAIG members; the winner will be announced in NOVEMBER.

Abstracts may be submitted any time up until 15th OCTOBER in any year. PLEASE NOTE that only one award from PAIG may be awarded to an applicant in any one calendar year. (Thus, Elsie Harwood Award winners are excluded from applying for a travel award in the year in which they win their award.)

Send abstracts for consideration directly to the Convener of PAIG, via email, along with dates of the conference attended (or to be attended) and presentation session times (if known).

Any questions should be directed to the Convener (currently, Nancy Pachana, npachana@psy.uq.edu.au).
