Forenic Psychology on the Frontline: Core Competencies for the Practice of Forensic Psychologist

19-20 March 2010 Moss Vale Golf Club Moss Vale, NSW

The NSW Branch of the College of Forensic Psychologists presents a 2-day 'mini-conference for students, provisionally registered and registered psychologists who wish to develop and build on assessment, intervention/treatment, report writing and expert witness knowledge and competencies  essential for forensic psychology practice.

This conference will significantly contribute to the development of core competencies required for the ethical and evidence based practice of forensic psychology. Session topics and presenters reflect the PD interests and preferences of college members and other psychologists who responded to an e-survey conducted by the NSW branch PD committee. Conference content covers contextual and theoretical influences which provide a socio-political and cultural framework, as well as a skills base for practice. The multidisciplinary mix of invited presenters as well as private and public sector practitioners, add value to the conference and recognizes the mutuality of ‘psychology+law’ for the forensic psychologist. Both the program and the environment in the Southern Highlands of NSW will inspire a collegiate atmosphere which will further enhance the conference as a significant learning and professional experience.

Dormie house will also be holding  a four-course conference dinner on Friday 19 March 2010.
